I had the chance to chop it up with Dallas-based artist Adrian Stresow and see the creative process and learn more about him as a person and as an artist. He’s arguably been one my favorite artists as he really does it all on his own with production, mixing, etc. My personal favorite song by him at the moment is “Griddy”
Erik Young: Who is Adrian Stresow? What initiated your start in music?
Adrian Stresow: I’m just a regular guy who makes music. I started making beats in high school and never stopped.
Erik Young: How are you man? How’s this pandemic been treating you
Adrian Stresow: I’m doing great! The pandemic was tough for everybody but for me it was a good chance to figure out my next move and test out some new things for my music.
Erik Young: How is it like being in Dallas?
Adrian Stresow: I love Dallas, I think there’s a bigger music scene here than people give it credit for.
Erik Young: Would you like to move out of Dallas if you had the opportunity presented to you and if so, then why?
Adrian Stresow: I like being close to my family, but some days I definitely would love to escape the Texas weather.
Erik Young: Who are some of your inspirations when it comes to making music?
Adrian Stresow: Lately I’ve been going back and listening to some of the music I missed growing up, it was only this year I realized how much I like Michael Jackson. For my own songs I try to color within the lines of Hip-Hop, so there will probably always be that Drake influence.
Erik Young: I know you’re friends with fellow artist Justin Stone, how did that come to be?
Adrian Stresow: Justin found me and reached out on Twitter a few years ago when I had just dropped out of school for music. He’s been one of the most genuine people in the industry to me as well as a close friend.
Erik Young: I know you produce the majority of your songs, what made you decide to go all-out and do it all on your own?
Adrian Stresow: I think I never gave myself enough credit as a producer until recently. There’s been a lot I’ve had to improve at, but it adds so much flavor when any artist produces their own music.
Erik Young: Have you gotta attention from any major labels thus far into your career?
Adrian Stresow: I’ve been reached out to by a few labels, but my main focus is improving my craft at this point so I have a product that speaks for itself. Labels can accelerate your career but they can also do the opposite.
Erik Young: What artists are you listening to as of recent?
Adrian Stresow: I been listening to a lot of Lil Baby this year, but I listen to my own creations more than anything else.
Erik Young: Do you have any upcoming shows that you’re excited for?
Adrian Stresow: Nothing I can talk about yet, but I’m super excited to be doing shows again.
Erik Young: Who’s an artist you’re trying to link up with and make a song with?
Adrian Stresow: I love making songs with my friends more than anything, I think me and 27CLUB are due for another banger. Would be cool to get something going with my guy Levi Hinson again too.
Erik Young: Is there something you’d like to let your fans know?
Adrian Stresow: I took a break for a while but I’m back and making my best music yet! The wait will be worth it.
Erik Young: What’s next for Adrian Stresow?
Adrian Stresow: The album is all that’s on my mind right now. That’s definitely what’s next.
Adrian Stresow is such an exciting artist to watch and I’m excited to see what he has in store for us in the near future. He’s one of the hardest working artists I know personally.
