I was graciously introduced to the musical repertoire of an exceptionally talented 18-year-old female artist presently rooted in Nashville, with her roots tracing back to Atlanta, Georgia. Anticipating the forthcoming release of her debut single on Valentine’s Day, I sought to secure the inaugural interview, presenting an exclusive opportunity to delve into the persona of this emerging artist. Join me in acquainting yourself with the noteworthy talents of Maggie Sims below.
DS – Where are you from?
MS – I am from Atlanta, Ga.
DS – Describe your music/ sound?
MS – I would say I bring a mix of genres to the table through my music and vocals. People have compared me and my music style to Olivia Rodrigo, Amy Whinehouse, Billie Eilish, Tate McRae and more, so I’d say my voice has an array of different sounds.
DS – Where do you pull inspo from?
MS – While I pull inspo from typical scenarios such as heartbreak and immense loss, I also base a lot of my songs off of those I see around me. Whether it be my family or friends, I try to captivate their lifestyle and feelings into a song. This has always been a cool way for me to connect to people and allow them to feel some sort of closure or acceptance through the music I make
DS – When did you first start recording/releasing music?
MS – I started recording demos of songs on my phone when I was eight years old and I recorded my first song “Hey It’s a New Day” when I was nine onto a CD. I have been writing songs for about ten years now and I never plan on stopping
DS – Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
MS ⁃ In five years time I would love to be a touring artist, making music full time. I would love to collaborate and connect with other music artists to make songs and become more skilled on guitar and hopefully other instruments.
DS – Any goals for 2024?
MS ⁃ HUGE GOALS! I plan on releasing my first single with my team and hope to write more songs to compile into a project… but that’s later. I also want to perform around Nashville and get my name out there!
