Continuing his latest visual run with director JMP. The two collaborating to provide alternate looks into Kenny Mason’s life.

This year, Kenny Mason released his third studio album, RUFFS on September 28th. The rapper, singer-songwriter and producer gave fans 16 strong tracks along with features from DavidTheTragic, Amindi, Young Nudy, and Jean Dawson. Music videos for “DIP!” and “HALOS” came shortly after the project’s release.

Each music video from RUFFS has been done by photographer/film director JMP. All I can say is that his work is impeccable, and its great to see these two creatives work together to bring Kenny’s ideas to life. At one point in this visual, the scenery switches from day to night, as Kenny goes from being around his closest homies – or better yet, his dawgs – to a studio session where he expresses himself in the booth.

There’s also an interesting cinematic shot that parallels the J. Cole “Everybody Dies” music video where the platinum recording artist (who now has a platinum record with Kenny Mason and other Dreamville affiliates on the hit “Stick”) in seen riding on top of the back of a pickup truck in his home state of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Whether this choice was intentionally inspired by Cole’s, or not, I just thought that it was pretty cool.
