This is album is damn good. Featuring collaborations from JPEGMAFIA, Kenny Beats, T-Pain, Robert Glasper, slowthai, and more- Denzel’s growth continues to shine in this project that is captivating from start to finish. As cliche as that may sound, it really is!
One thing that this project does exceptionally well is blending together artists, producers, and sounds that you never knew that you needed before. Ain’t No Way features four artists on the track in 6LACK, Rico Nasty, JID, and Powers Pleasant, complementing Denzel for a full cypher that can sometimes drag on. This does the opposite, squeezing all artists into a 4-minute track and using each artist with specific and focused intent. In many ways, this is what Denzel does throughout the entire project and something that he has done throughout his career to this point. His creativity and vision are undeniable (as we have seen in past concepts like his three-part album TA13OO). This is a huge leap forward in artistic expression from Denzel’s last solo project, ZUU, which was released in 2019, and something that many fans saw coming based on the singles released leading up to this project.
Not only does Denzel blend together a wide array of sounds and genres, he also puts on for smaller artists as track 12, Sanjuro, features an artist named 454 , which has Florida ties. This just goes to show the type of person that Denzel is- he does not forget about where he came from and he knows that talent can be anywhere. Denzel has had one of the more transparent come-ups that rap fans have had the pleasure to witness in recent memory. Denzel has stated that this is his favorite project to date. I highly recommend listening to this project from front to back. Let us know what your favorite songs from Melt My Eyez See Your Future are!
