Atlas is in an interesting situation, to say the least. Despite sitting at just over 137k followers on SoundCloud, he is yet to see any major mainstream breakout yet. Coming off the heels of a very successful past few years on paper, he decided to let his musical projects lay dormant after releasing the single “in between.” Now eight months later, and he has finally returned to drop his 150th track entitled “Stainedglassheart” featuring Sudi.
This three minute track packs a lot into it, from Atlas’ heavy and heartfelt lyrics to Sudi’s soft and dreamlike guest appearance. Atlas’s lyrics about anxiety, love, and weakness give the song a meaningful and heavy feeling. Its chorus is incredibly catchy, staying vague enough to allow the listener to relate to it.
All of these aspects fall over an ethereal techno and EDM-tinged instrumental. The Lilac-produced beat is easily comparable to something coming from Yung Gud or nearly any producer in his liking. It conclusively does a wonderful job of highlighting the vocals in their own nuanced ways.
Given the sheer quality of a track in this nature, a central question still remains: will this be Atlas’s grand return to his work? Judging by the reception that this track has already gained and will continue to do so, listener’s can surely hope that this is the case.
