If – like me – you haven’t yet visited Frederick, Maryland…I think it is safe to assume that this is what hip-hop from there is supposed to sound like. For the past five years, Demetrius has been a vital part of the hip-hop community in his hometown, while being an example of a true artist and dedication by providing consistent outputs and organizing showcases for other artists in and around the Golden Mile.

Demetrius has put out 18 solo offerings in 2025, including five EP’s (each containing 2-6 songs). The two most recent groups of tracks came this summer, alongside a slew of visuals that give an optical feel to fresh sonics. These clips contained – in signature fashion – segments of Demetrius in different rural spaces and outlying areas.
In his music, Demetrius is evolving and becoming more introspective, as he gets more in depth on his relationship to his family, community, and artform. Also, there’s an evident level of confidence in Demetrius’ delivery across each record on Go Wit U, the EP he released on August 8th (6 songs / 13 minute run time). There’s no doubt that 2025 has been his most active year to date.

This year, Demetrius is making good on the goals set during the two conversations we’ve had for Grooverelly. Towards the end of each talk, the Frederick lyricist shared his aims to show more consistency and create with a heightened level of self-assurance. Also, as an independent artist, the wordsmith is doing his part to be in front of the people as he has on stage appearances lined up for the coming season.
Demetrius’ most recent singles “Fall On Me Freestyle”, “Honeyed” and “NO CASA” carry production with a bounce that is more familiar to the rapper’s Maryland roots. To me, these are records that are made to be heard and felt by crowds.
In a time where the niche artists are thriving, Demetrius is carving a lane of his own in a hardworking and authentic way, while elevating the community he comes from. With his drive appearing at an all time high, there is no limit in sight.
