This compelling music video is the fourth to come from his latest LP.
Virginia’s CMRNPRKR (Cameron Parker) is back active since the release of his 12-track debut solo album, PARK ANGEL back in January. Doing press to promote the project, he made a stop in Richmond and had a conversation with Jack Jenson’s CAREFREE Magazine, then came back to Norfolk for the Vanity Ultra Podcast. A couple weeks later the lyricist went to Baltimore, MD to chop it up with the Floaters, where he also was given the opportunity to kick a dope freestyle over a looped jazzy sample.
Leading up to the album’s release, listeners were given videos for the conquering “HIIIGHER” and the origin storytelling “ANGEL CHILD.” On the week his LP was dropped, a cut came for the free-flowing “PARKSIDE FREESTYLE.” Each visual has acted as a piece of CMRN’s homegrown, craft-passionate universe. Also, all have been directed and edited exclusively by OG Films and his media team.
The music video for “GODSPEED” finds CMRNPRKR in two locations: by himself inside a red-lit studio with a white background, and outside on a running trail with his homies. In another scene where the lighting in the filming space is changed to blue, the rapper is seen on a compacted treadmill.
The song, produced by Sound Dealer, is a soulful opening to PARK ANGEL where the emcee showcases his focused songwriting-harping on the steps in the game that he’s taken over the past 10 years and how he plans to maximize his abilities at this new point in his career. It also shows CMRNPRKR’s musical taste in specific elements of production. Following the hook, he flows over a piano medley before a saxophone serenades us on the song’s outro.
After dropping PARK ANGEL, the Suffolk-raised artist didn’t stop his run, dropping a collaborative EP with Newport News, VA alternative melodic artist Boris The Lucid. The 3-track offering called “WHILE YOU WAIT” exhibits the chemistry between the two Virginians, who are both heavyweights in their own lanes. CMRNPRKR also performed at the Charged Up Festival (Richmond, VA) in May. His most recent time on stage was Saturday, June 22nd in Virginia Beach, VA.
It’s safe to say that CMRNPRKR is back and better than ever.
